About the Author
My name is Katie French and I love writing. I especially love writing for children. I've been a teacher for thirteen years. I teach big kids, some with mustaches! I have two smaller kids at home who I love to entertain with stories. My books were all too mature (big kids can find those here), so I decided to write a story for my children. Portia Parrott was born.

About Portia Parrott
#1 - I am not a bird. My LAST NAME is Parrott, but I don't have a beak or clawed feet. But once I fit a whole sleeve of crackers in my mouth. Then I threw up.
#2 - I am seven years old. Daddy says this means I can feed chicken guts to the alligators. But only if he's with me.
#3 - Florida air is hot like dog's breath. When I moved there to live with my mommy, I thought my face would melt.
# 4 - I love snakes! And turtles! And lizards! My dad is a herp-e-tologist, so he touches them with his bare hands! I want to be like him when I grow up.
# 5 - My daddy is in Australia, filming his first TV show. In Australia, the flying foxes are as big as my neighbor's dog. And they say "shrimp on the barbie" and "didgeridoo".
